Law Firm Collections Specialist
We are a boutique law firm, focusing on representation of homeowners associations and condominium associations.
We are seeking an experienced collections specialist with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for contributing to the growth of a law practice. We are seeking someone who is positive, energetic, conscientious, friendly, hard-working, self-sufficient, and proactive.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing demand letters to debtors to collect unpaid receivables owed to clients.
Preparing small claims court pleadings, affidavits, and other court documents on behalf of the firm’s receivables client, as directed by the firm’s attorneys.
Speaking to debtors to collect unpaid receivables owed to clients, negotiate payment plans, and process payments.
Develop a mastery of the firm’s case management system, including updating case notes and generating appropriate forms.
Overseeing payment plans and following up on defaults on agreements.
Communicating with the firm’s clients and managing agents regarding collections accounts.
Receiving incoming phone calls and emails from debtors who dispute debts.
Assisting and supporting the firm’s attorneys as needed.
Requirements for consideration:
At least 2 years of experience working in a collections agency or a legal collections role in a law firm or company.
The ability to handle sometimes tough conversations in a courteous and professional manner.
Comfortable with a high volume of inbound and outbound calls.
The ability to effectively prioritize work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Understanding and complying with the requirements of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and other applicable collections laws.
Attention to detail.
Critical thinking skills.
Reliable, professional, detail-oriented, dependable, friendly, highly organized and motivated.
